The dwarfs are a tenacious breed of warriors whose strongholds are formed all throughout the Old World's mountanous regions. They are short and bearded, also bitter and quite stubborn. Warhammer Crafting

With Warhammer Online releasing on September 18th, many of you may be wondering about the Warhammer online crafting system. I was able to do some crafting last weekend during the Preview weekend and would like to share what I have learned.

Warhammer crafting is pretty level forward. There are two different types of crafting - harvesting and done stock crafting. There are four types of harvesting crafts. Scavenging is scrounging usable stuff from humanoid type mobs after you have killed them. Butchering is pretty much the same thing as scavenging only from dead animals. Cultivating is farming or growing items to be used to make done products. Magical salvaging is breaking down items into crafting supplies. There are only two types of done stock crafting at this time. Apothecary is basically potion production and can be pretty handy. You can make curative potions, stat buffs, or cause damage that can really help in RvR. Talisman production creates adornments to be added to armor and weapons.

Warhammer

I would advise everyone get a harvesting craft early in the game. Nearby level 5, you will come across a quest camp with crafting trainers in it. As a beginner Warhammer craft I would advise Scavenging. It seems there are more humanoids to be killed than animals and even if you don't plan to craft right away or ever, you can scavenge items to sell to a merchant to make money early on. You can even scavenge from other players after you have killed them in RvR. It also makes sense to have your first character scavenge because it doesn't require anyone but dead bodies to skill up and you gain items usable in cultivating, apothecary and talisman making.

Finished stock crafting is pretty easy and skill ups come fast. There are no recipes in Warhammer crafting so you just open the crafting window, put the items in there and see what happens when you integrate them. In Apothecary, for instance, you put in a glass vial to hold your potion, you add a basic ingredient like Elvish Parsley (to make a curative potion) and then you have three more slots that you can buy items to improve the combination, increase the number of potions created or make it more garage (more likely to succeed). This is where your scavenging comes in. If you have scavenged something that says it does something interesting, you can just throw it in to the mix at this point and see what you get from the combine. No recipes to crusade for or buy.

According to Mythic, Warhammer crafting is not indispensable but is meant to improve RvR. So it's all about being tougher or great at attacking or more unyielding to magic, etc. all in the game is centered on killing the enemy.

Warhammer Healer

Healers have always appealed to me. I like being able to run up behind some noob who is struggling and pop a heal and maybe a buff on him and run off. I have been medical since I hung out at the orc fort in Uo and laid bandages on population who plan I was only getting close to them so I could pick their pockets. But RvR situations are when healers authentically shine! I authentically love denying the other realm the chance at renown points.

There is a rumor going colse to that Warhammer Online healer classes are over powered. I don't know that I would say that but Mythic has authentically moved medical past the ole target-heal-wait game. Either you roll a dwarf healer or a dark elf healer, you can bet you will have something you could be doing in between heals.

Warhammer

My personal favorite so far is the melee healer. That would be the empire warrior priest and the dark elf disciple of Khaine. These priests gain their medical abilities from their weapon moves. They start with a base of 250 points and use those points to heal. When that whole hits 0, the healer is out of heals! To gain those points back, they must swing their weapon or use a converter to transfer actions points (power) in to medical ability. What I have found in RvR is if you start healing, you are going to get attacked. So you heal, then defend yourself when you are attacked, retention your medical capability available. Melee healers are also pretty hard to kill.

Another selection for medical is the ranged healer. The high-elf archmage and the goblin shaman would fall in this category. These are the ones that will rock in keep defense since they can stand back and heal or dps from a distance. So if you like retention a low profile this might be the medical class for you. You want to find a nice corner somewhere and heal and blast away, unseen until there is nothing left but bodies to count.

The last set of healers includes the dwarven rune priest and the chaos zealot. These healers buff and heal for their group. Early preparation is the key here. The thing I noticed about the zealot was that by level 6, I had a ward, heal over time, and a direct heal - all of which were instant cast so I could cast on the run. I also had a dot and direct damage that could be cast while I moved too. Perfect for a get away or a chase down - both of which happen a lot in RvR.

If Warhammer PvP sounds like your cup of tea, you should probably think rolling one of the six healer choices. You will be harder to kill and fun to play. Read the descriptions at character creation and give it a go. You will probably have lots of fun in RvR and PvE. See ya in game!

Warhammer Mark Of Chaos GamerZ report

Warhammer Mark of Chaos is the eagerly awaited Rts (Real Time Strategy) game by Namco Bandai. Based on the Games Workshop tabletop wargame, Warhammer, one can fight alongside the evil Chaos or the qualified Empire. The game itself is amazing, graphics are top-notch and the Ai is stunning. It captures the whole Warhammer experience greatly and has pretty good multiplayer action. Although there are some disadvantages (such as multiplayer technical issues and a fairly basic campaign) its well worth buying this game.

The game is fairly simple to get used to (after about half an hour you will probably be used to most of the basic controls) Basically, its mostly drag and click but there are some beneficial rotating/zooming options (all explained in the tutorial, which is a must for first-time players) and if a quick view reset is required, all you have to do is tap the Space Bar on your keyboard.

The battles are very similar to the Total War games (only instead of just humans, these contain Orks, Elves, Skaven, Chaos and other creatures/armies from the favorite fantasy wargame) The battles are astounding to watch and at some points I just zoom in and watch my men fight. Unfortunately the campaign-mode is nothing special. The player has a option of two campaigns, the Chaos campaign and the Empire campaign. Even though Mark of Chaos and the Total War games highlight the same type of epic-battles, the same can't be said for the campaigns. The Mark of Chaos campaigns are nothing close to the strategic depth of the Total War campaigns, but they both highlight the same turn-based style.

Both the Empire and the Chaos campaigns are very similar, you move along a pre-determined battle path and fight battle after battle, meet and help a besieged town, duel an enemy hero and defeat and campsite of enemies. Occasionally you may come over a crossroads leading to an elective battle, but other than that, there aren't indubitably any random events. You are able to buy your own army's units, upgrade them with good armor, weapons, siege equipment, banners, musicians and unit champions and even bless your soldiery in a temple, granting them varied battle benefits. When you decree to fight a battle, you can obviously select which soldiery to take with you and this is were the decision making and strategic planning begins.. Do you want an army full of ranged weapons, such as muskets, bows or axes or would you rather rely on a force made up of swords and spears? The option is up to you..If you lose some units in the battle, you can replace these (for a cost) at your army camp/town(eliminating the whole "resource gathering" process that may make other Rts games boring). You also get to control varied heroes throught the game. These can also be upgraded with unique upgrades, they can gather armor and other items from dead units and use special skills to boost their/their regiment's fighting/defense skills. These heroes can duel enemy heroes in one-on-one combat. Speaking of battles, these involve quite a bit of strategic reasoning and with the right tactics, it is possible to crush the enemy with minimal losses from your side. The fighting isn't like most Rts games, it isn't "fight to the death", units have morale and if a primary amount of that unit is killed, the survivors will break ranks and flee, giving you (or your opponent) the opening to regroup and chase the remainder of the enemy's army until they're forced to surrender.

Multiplayer battles are often huge and intriguing (that is, if you conduct to connect..) Unfortunately there are some connection problems (even after patching) but thankfully, these will at last be fixed and Mark of Chaos supports multiplayer play over a Lan so its not That big of a problem.

This game is a fine example of a contemporary day Rts and any time to come expansions should be interesting..
